Why do I teach swimming? Because I LOVE it! I love seeing the smile on my students’ and parents’ faces when the student experiences success. I love making people happy and teaching them a valuable skill that may save their life someday.
Basics About Me:
- I am highly passionate about teaching precise, elegant swimming.
- I can teach crying children, students who are deathly afraid of water, and individuals with no prior swimming experience. I can effectively teach students who speak little to no English, are hard of hearing, autistic, or have some other handicap.
- I’m able to achieve quick, exceptional results no matter what the student’s skill level.
Qualifications:
- Years ago, the Long Beach YMCA allowed me to run my swim classes based on ability rather than age. My program was a huge success since swim proficiency is much more important than age in learning to swim.
- I developed the instruction techniques for the sidestroke for SafeSplash (a multiple location Orange County swim school).
- I was about 3 when I took my first swim lesson. I began teaching swimming when I was 15 after I learned synchronized swimming and competitive swimming.
- My first students were my fellow classmates at St. Lawrence Girls School in Santa Clara, CA (Silicon Valley).
Credentials:
- Founder of Blue Dolphin Swim School, a premium Orange County swim instruction business that teaches students at the pool of their choice.
- Water Safety Instructor (WSI) and CPR certificates.
- In my teens, I learned synchronized swimming and competitive swimming. These experiences are what taught me the most about how to swim accurately and elegantly; they have helped shape my swim instruction style.
Education:
- MBA Marketing Management, Golden Gate University, San Francisco.
- B.S. Marketing Management, California State University, Long Beach.
- A.A. Graphic Design, Saddleback College, Mission Viejo.
- Swim coursework: Aquatic course work and certification at California State University, Long Beach. Also, I spent years taking swim lessons and life guarding and teaching swimming in northern and southern California.
